The Huffington Post article includes a video of Roger Frisch undergoing a deep brain stimulation operation in which probes are wired through the neck to the thalamus and signals disengage the part of the thalamus responsible for the tremors. Frisch, a concert violinist, is awake during this procedure and is seen playing the violin with the tremors and with the tremors disappearing when the probe has been properly placed. Frisch is clearly elated to be able to play the violin again without the tremors as are the physicians at the Mayo Clinic who see the obvious success of the operation. The article also contains follow-up information about how Frisch is doing five years post-surgery.
